Rask AI is the conversational layer of the Rask app. It lets you talk through changes to your own data — your fact-find, your goals, your risk profile, your journal, your watchlist, your tax structures, your wealth-forecast scenarios — and confirm each change before anything is saved.
Rask AI is on every page as a floating “Ask Rask” button in the bottom-right corner. Click it and a chat panel slides in. The button is there on your Dashboard, your Tasks, every form, your watchlist, your wealth entities, your journal — everywhere. One button, one conversation, anywhere in the app.
The Career Analyser is its own embedded chat (not the floating pill) because it does resume scoring and the compounding-paths chart in the same conversation. If you ask the floating pill to score your resume or run the full compounding chart, it’ll point you there.
How a Rask AI conversation works
- Click the floating “Ask Rask” button. A chat panel slides in from the right.
- Pick a starter chip or type in the composer. A few starter chips suggest common things (“What should I focus on this week?”, “Make a change to my data”, “Explain something in my plan”).
- Answer Rask’s short questions in plain English (for example, “my salary is $115k including super”).
- Review the proposal card Rask drafts when it understands your change. The card shows the current value, the proposed new value, and a Save / Edit & save / Skip button.
- Click Save — Rask never saves anything until you click. The change is recorded in your fact-find / goals / journal / etc. and audited the same way a manual form save is.
That’s the entire flow, on every page.
Uploading a file
Sometimes Rask AI needs a file from you to help with what you’re asking. When that happens, an upload card appears inline in the chat with a drop-zone and a Choose file button:
- Drag a file onto the card, or click Choose file.
- The file uploads to your document vault under the right folder.
- Rask AI surfaces a “Here’s what I read” receipt card showing what it understood from the document, before any changes to your records.
- Then Rask AI proposes individual changes as standard confirm cards — you Save, Edit & save, or Skip each one.
Supported document types
- Resume / CV — score it for top fixes + per-section feedback
- Will — flag has_will + extract execution date for your estate planning
- Power of attorney — flag has_poa for your estate planning
- Super statement — extract balance + contributions, propose super-account updates
- Payslip — auto-fill salary, super, salary sacrifice fields in your fact-find
- Investment screenshot — read holdings from a broker screenshot, propose adding to your wealth entities
- Investment CSV — parse a broker CSV (Sharesight, Pearler, Selfwealth, CommSec) and propose holdings
- Insurance policy — extract cover, premium, ownership, propose adding to your insurance list
- Bank statement (CSV) — surface a category-total summary for the period (does not write to your cashflow without your explicit confirmation)
- Bank statement (PDF) — same as CSV; CSV is more reliable when available
Documents are saved to your secure document vault first — Rask AI reads from there. We mask card numbers, bank account numbers, BSBs, email addresses, TFNs, and Medicare numbers before any document content reaches the AI step.
What’s the point of the proposal card?
Rask AI uses Google Vertex (Gemini). LLMs sometimes hear numbers slightly wrong. The card is your sanity check — you see the diff (old → new) before anything saves. If Rask got it wrong, click Edit & save to fix the number, or Skip and tell it again in plain English.
Every confirmed change is logged the same way a manual form save is. Nothing happens silently.
What Rask AI can and cannot do
Rask AI can change your data — but only inside narrow, member-by-member-confirmed channels.
- ✅ It can update fields in your fact-find, draft goals, set price alerts, propose journal notes, retune forecast assumptions, and so on. See What Rask AI can change for the full list.
- ❌ It cannot do things you wouldn’t expect a planning assistant to do — change your password or MFA, edit your date of birth, delete documents from your vault, post anything publicly, or touch your partner’s data. See What Rask AI deliberately won’t do.
