The Cashflow dashboard is built so you can get quick answers first, then dig in when you need to.

Step 1: Check the big picture

  1. Look at the alert banner. If it asks you to continue setup or review uncategorised transactions, start there.
  2. Check your Monthly snapshot tiles for money in, money out and your net position.
  3. Scan Net trend and Cashflow over time for big changes from month to month.
  4. Open Spending breakdown to see your top categories and merchants for the month.

Step 2: Tidy up your transactions

In Recent activity:

  • Select the Uncategorised chip to see what still needs a category.
  • Use Search and Filter to find specific transactions.
  • Select a transaction to open its details, then:
    • choose the right category
    • exclude it if it shouldn’t count (for example, a one-off refund)
    • add a note for future you
    • Match as transfer when money moves between your own accounts
    • Split it if one payment covers more than one category

Step 3: Automate with rules

From a transaction’s details, choose Create a rule from this transaction, or open the Category rules tab. Rules use the Who / What / Why flow:

  • Who: the merchant or description you want to match.
  • What: start typing a category name and choose from the suggestions.
  • Why (optional): add a second keyword when one merchant can fall into different categories.

You can also limit a rule to money in or money out.

Step 4: Plan ahead

  • Use the Budgets tab to set monthly targets.
  • Use the Recurring tab to spot subscriptions and regular bills.

Exporting your data

In Recent activity, choose Export to download your filtered transactions as a CSV or Excel file.

Managing accounts

To see your connected accounts or attribute one to a trust, company or SMSF, go to Settings → Connections and find Cashflow data.

Practical routine

  • Weekly: sync, clear the alert banner and check your top spending.
  • Monthly: review budgets and adjust category rules.
  • As needed: check the Recurring tab to catch subscription creep.
